Portland sits at the intersection of the Pacific Northwest’s most dynamic industrial markets. From the marine and shipbuilding industries that line the Columbia and Willamette rivers, to the agricultural equipment operations serving Oregon’s farm-rich Willamette Valley, to the construction and infrastructure sectors driving growth across the region. The equipment built and maintained here demands hydraulic and pneumatic systems that perform reliably under real-world conditions.

Hydra-Power Systems was founded in Portland in 1970 and has spent more than five decades building the relationships, technical capabilities, and product infrastructure that the region’s industrial customers depend on. Our Portland facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified, our engineers hold deep application knowledge across mobile, industrial, marine, and agricultural hydraulics, and our warehouse is stocked and ready for same-day shipment on thousands of components.

Whether you’re a production OEM building equipment in the Pacific Northwest, a maintenance operation keeping heavy equipment running, or an engineering team developing a custom fluid power system from scratch, Hydra-Power Systems in Portland is your local resource for components, engineering support, and custom fabrication.

What We Do From Portland

Custom Hydraulic Manifold Manufacturing

Custom manifold design and manufacturing is one of Hydra-Power Systems’ most differentiated capabilities — and the Portland facility is where that work gets done. We design and machine integrated circuit hydraulic manifolds for applications ranging from simple directional control blocks to complex multi-function assemblies with integrated pressure relief, load-holding, and proportional valve sections.

Our manifolds are designed in AutoCAD and Inventor using Vest’s MDTools software, machined with Mastercam-driven CNC equipment, and subjected to rigorous deburring, cleaning, assembly, and pressure testing before leaving the facility. Materials include aluminum, ductile iron, and steel, selected based on pressure rating, weight requirements, and operating environment.

For OEMs building equipment at production volume, custom manifold assemblies offer a path to reduced plumbing complexity, lower leak potential, and faster machine assembly compared to equivalent discrete component circuits. Our team works from customer circuit requirements — or collaborates with engineers earlier in the design process to develop those requirements — and takes the project through to finished, tested assemblies ready for production installation.

Hydraulic and Pneumatic Component Distribution

Hydra-Power Systems maintains comprehensive inventory of hydraulic and pneumatic components at the Portland facility, stocked for same-day shipment. Our product lines span the major categories of fluid power components, sourced from the global manufacturers we represent as authorized distributors.

Hydraulic components in stock include directional control valves, cartridge valves, pressure control valves, flow control valves, hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic motors, pumps, accumulators, filters, fittings, and associated hardware. Pneumatic components include directional control valves, cylinders, FRL units, tubing, fittings, and actuators.

Our customer service team is available 12 hours a day to assist with component identification, cross-referencing, and order processing. For customers facing equipment downtime, our same-day shipment capability from the Portland warehouse means critical components can be moving within hours of your call.

Hydraulic Power Units

The Portland team designs and assembles hydraulic power units across a wide horsepower range for mobile and stationary applications. HPUs are assembled to customer specifications, integrating pump, motor, reservoir, filtration, heat exchange, and control valve components into a complete, tested power supply ready for installation.

Applications range from compact self-contained HPUs for specialized mobile functions to larger stationary units for industrial machinery, test stands, and marine deck equipment.

Power Take-Off Solutions

Through our PTO Specialties division, Hydra-Power Systems is the Pacific Northwest’s preferred resource for power take-off solutions. We stock and support a broad range of PTO configurations for truck-mounted and work vehicle applications, working with customers on selection, installation, and integration with the downstream hydraulic system.

Electric Hybrid Solutions

As the mobile equipment industry moves toward electrification, Hydra-Power Systems supports customers developing electric hybrid hydraulic systems — integrating electric motor-driven pump configurations, energy recovery strategies, and the electronic control systems that manage them. Our engineering team works with customers at the system design level to develop hybrid architectures that meet duty cycle, weight, and efficiency requirements.

Serving the Pacific Northwest

The Portland facility is Hydra-Power Systems’ headquarters and primary engineering and manufacturing location. From here, we serve customers across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and the broader Pacific Northwest with the full scope of our distribution, manufacturing, and engineering capabilities.

Portland’s location — with direct access to I-84 and I-205, proximity to the Port of Portland, and rail connections to regional distribution infrastructure — means we can reach customers across the region efficiently and ship nationally when needed. For customers in the Pacific Northwest who have historically had to source specialized fluid power components from distant suppliers with long lead times, Hydra-Power Systems’ Portland inventory and engineering depth changes that equation.

Key industries we serve from Portland include:

Marine and Shipbuilding — Oregon’s maritime industry, from commercial fishing vessels and tugboats operating on the Columbia River system to yacht builders and marine service operators, relies on hydraulic systems for steering, deck equipment, anchor handling, and hatch actuation. Hydra-Power Systems supplies components and custom manifold assemblies built to the durability and corrosion resistance requirements of marine operating environments.

Agriculture and Forestry — The Willamette Valley and surrounding agricultural regions generate significant demand for hydraulic components servicing field equipment, irrigation systems, processing machinery, and specialty crop equipment. Pacific Northwest forestry and logging operations depend on high-performance hydraulic systems for felling, processing, and transportation equipment. We understand the seasonal urgency of agricultural and forestry equipment maintenance and stock accordingly.

Construction and Infrastructure — Oregon’s ongoing construction activity in commercial, infrastructure, and residential sectors keeps contractors and equipment rental operations running a steady stream of heavy equipment in need of hydraulic service parts, replacement valves, and custom manifold assemblies. Our same-day shipping capability and technical support are built to meet the timeline expectations of construction operations.

Industrial Manufacturing — Oregon’s manufacturing base — spanning food processing, technology, aerospace components, metal fabrication, and specialty products — depends on hydraulic and pneumatic systems for presses, automation equipment, clamping systems, and material handling. Our Portland engineering team works directly with plant maintenance and engineering personnel on component sourcing, manifold replacements, and system upgrades.

OEM Equipment Manufacturing — Pacific Northwest OEMs building mobile and specialty equipment find in Hydra-Power Systems a supplier capable of supporting both the engineering development phase and the production supply chain. From prototype builds requiring close engineering collaboration to production runs requiring consistent component supply and quality documentation, we structure our support around the OEM’s workflow.

Quality, Performance, and Engineering Depth

Hydra-Power Systems’ Portland facility operates under ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification, covering our distribution, manifold manufacturing, and system assembly operations. Our quality management processes include incoming inspection, in-process controls at machining and assembly, and final pressure and functional testing on manifold assemblies and hydraulic power units before shipment.

Beyond quality systems, what distinguishes the Portland team is engineering application depth. Our technical staff brings experience across the spectrum of fluid power applications — from troubleshooting slow hydraulic actuation in mobile equipment to specifying proportional valve systems for automated industrial machinery to designing custom manifold circuits that consolidate multiple functions into a single precision-machined block. This is not a team that can only help you find a part number. It’s a team that can help you solve the underlying problem.
